FAQs

I'M A COMPLETE BEGINNER, IS THAT OK?

The classes are suitable to everyone, from complete beginner to experienced yogi.  Please get in touch so I can advise you on the best class for you.

WHAT IF I'M NOT FLEXIBLE.  WILL I COPE?

Absolutely, the classes are open to everyone.  Through the regular practice of Yoga your flexibility will improve.  Please see the class information.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE CLASS?

Classes vary in length and difficulty, however they all begin with a quiet warm-up of the body, mind and breath.  We then work through a sequence of asana (poses) combined with a continued breathing pattern.  We progress through a series of kneeling, standing and lying postures.  The class always ends with a savasana (relaxation).

WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY OR MEDICAL CONDITION?

Please make me aware of any concerns or conditions you have that may affect your practice. Whilst Yoga can be very therapeutic and beneficially for the body please seek medical advice from your GP before attending class if you have an injury or medical condition.  Before your first class you will need to complete a medical history form and disclaimer.

WHAT IF I CANNOT DO THE POSES?

Do not worry!  Different postures suit different bodies.  The classes are in a non-competitive environment where you are encouraged to work within the safe limits of your body.  If you struggle with a particular posture you will be offered a modification.  The use of props often helps you reach challenging poses.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME?

No.  A mat, blanket and all props are provided but some people prefer to bring their own so please feel free to do so.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement or breathing.  You will be bear-footed so please bring socks for relaxation if you get cold feet!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS WITHIN A BLOCK I HAVE PAID FOR?

If you are going to miss a session, then please let me know in advance to avoid others missing out.  You are welcome to attend another class providing there is a space but this will need to be booked in advance.  You cannot carry missed sessions over through to the next block and I am unable to give refunds.

I AM PREGNANT, CAN I STILL PRACTICE YOGA?

Yes, but I would recommend attending a specialist pregnancy Yoga class as the poses will need to be adapted to suit your changing body.  Please let me know if you are pregnant.

DOES AGE MATTER?

Definitely not.  Yoga can be practised at any age.
